Music Director / Producer

Rachel Sandler is a NYC-based producer, music director, and voice teacher. She is the founder of Sandler Artist Studio, where she provides individualized training, professional development, and performance opportunities for musical theatre artists. Her music direction for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Compass Rose Theatre earned her a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding Music Direction. Rachel’s work focuses on building collaborative spaces for artists to grow and connect. Thank you to Deanna for this incredible opportunity to collaborate!

Jack shapiro

Hi there! This is Barbara’s show, so I’ll keep it brief.

While I’ve never been a Canadian Mountie, an Olympian, or a presidential candidate, I have had the opportunity to take on some other fun jobs. Some favorites include Marius (Les Misérables), Perchik (Fiddler on the Roof), Chad (All Shook Up), and Joseph (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat — mostly for that coat!).

You might have caught me onstage before at Asolo Rep, Connecticut Stage Co., Sundance, Playmill, or Hale Centre Theatre. BFA in Musical Theatre, BYU.

Thanks to Deanna for getting me out of retirement for this one!

Production Assitant

Meg Gallo is a performer based in NYC, turning in the script for a steamer for this project! When not constructing Barb’s closet, you can often catch her singing at NYC’s notorious cabaret venues. She is thrilled to be involved in her first Off-Broadway musical alongside such a talented team.

tommy malek

Director

Tommy Malek (Director) — Off-Broadway debut! Tommy is an award-winning theatre and film professional specializing in directing, performance, and design. Originally from Baltimore, MD, they proudly served as Artistic Director of The Maryland Theatre Collective from 2012–2024.

Recent directing/choreography credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Compass Rose Theater (nominated for seven 2025 Helen Hayes Awards, including Outstanding Director of a Musical and Outstanding Costume Design), Spring Awakening, Agnes of God, RENT, and Little Women the Broadway Musical with The Maryland Theatre Collective; 9 to 5 the Musical with Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre; and Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein with Silhouette Stages.

Much love and gratitude to the team of this lovely production for making the seemingly impossible entirely possible in just a few short days! Enjoy!!
